To date, no progress has been made to restore affordable, university supported childcare at University of Missouri for student parents. Unfortunately, the University of Missouri continues to remove its support of students and student parents, especially graduate student employees. A recent event has brought our childcare concern back into focus. On August 14th, with barely 13 hours of notice before health insurance plans expired, the University announced its decision not to provide previously promised health insurance subsidies for graduate student employees. Graduate student employees have lost access to childcare and housing, had a reduction in real wages, and seen many colleagues living in poverty. Enough. Graduate student employees at University of Missouri have joined together to demand fair wages and compensation for their work, promised healthcare, and a return of affordable university supported childcare for all students, among others. We ask for your support in this cause! We ask that you join us for a peaceful rally on Wednesday, August 26th at 12 pm at the Columns to show your support (wear red) or show your support on social media! #MizzouUnited For more information: http://www.mugradrights.org/?p=140
