Urge the Chief Minister of the Isle of Man to intervene in the Teachers' pay dispute

Given that there have been overwhelming votes of no confidence by the workforce in both the Minister for Education and in the Department of Education Sport and Culture, we call upon the Chief Minister to take full responsibility for the teachers’ pay dispute and to bring about a swift resolution to avoid industrial action escalation which may disrupt schools and children's education which teachers wish to avoid at all costs.
Tynwald should recognise that education is an investment in our children and young people, not a burden on the Treasury.
We call on The Chief Minister to;
1. Honour without conditions, the independent School Teacher Review Body’s (STRB’s) recommendations on Pay for Teachers 2018/19;
2. Commit to a fully funded pay settlement for future years for the teaching workforce which will retain and attract the very best professionals for schools on the Isle of Man.
Thank you for signing and supporting our petition.
