LINK TO PETITION: English: https://goo.gl/msBBY7 French: https://goo.gl/DXzVms BE SURE TO SEND BACK THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL! Dear friends, Apologies in advance if you receive more than one email about this petition in the coming weeks--we think it is so important that we are sending it to everyone who has signed any of our petitions. This petition was inspired by Captain, a dog who was brutally beaten and left in a dumpster in 2012. Captain's owner was convicted of animal cruelty and just over a year later was charged, and subsequently convicted, for murdering his own mother. The petition asks our government to require mandatory risk assessment and treatment for anyone convicted of animal cruelty. We firmly believe such an initiative would save both animal and human lives. The petition is sponsored by MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and will be presented in the House of Commons. We have 120 days to gather signatures on it. Please sign and share--we need every signature we can get. And there are other actions you can take, such as gathering signatures on an identical paper petition and joining our Facebook group to receive updates. All information about the petition, including downloadable documents, can be found at the following web link: https://www.aclacanada.org/take-action Thank you for your ongoing efforts and support, for Captain and all other victims of animal abusers. ~ Animal Cruelty Legislation Advocates Canada
