Make the Hall of Fame Fashion Show Fur-Free

The Issue

Every year during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival, a fashion show takes place. People of all ages, from all over the area, come to watch as models strut down the runway- wearing other animals' bodies.

The federal governmental does not regulate fur farms. Animals are crammed into crowded, filthy wire cages until they are slaughtered through genital electrocution. After slaughter, the animals' skins are treated with toxic chemicals to keep it from rotting and decomposing in the buyer's closet.

Fur farms also harm the environment. One million pounds of feces are produced annually by U.S. mink farms alone. One dangerous component of this waste is nearly 1,000 tons of phosphorus, which pollutes nearby rivers and streams.

We can have a fur-free fashion show. There are plenty of other stylish clothing options that don't involve the abuse of another being. There are even  cruelty-free alternatives. There is no reason to continue with this practice. So for the 2017 Hall of Fame Fashion Show, we ask that you go fur-free!
