Maintain Local Plans & Quality of Life
The Issue
The Project: The Trails at Santiago Creek
The proposed project includes developing 129 units on the 109-acre former Sully Miller property with single family detached units.
Location
The project site is located north of Santiago Canyon Road in the City of Orange and includes portions of Santiago Creek--the largest tributary to the Santa Ana River.
Key Issues
The City of Orange appointed a Liaison Committee, which submitted "Alternative E" for the project to the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) to analyze. This reasonable and rational alternative was overwhelmingly supported by the community. However, that alternative was ignored and the DEIR failed to analyze it. Instead the developer's proposal extinguishes the Orange Park Acres Plan & equestrian lifestyle and replace it with tract homes (up to 240). The project also ignores approved historic plans that designate the site open space.
The Status: Comments Due April 9, 2018
The DEIR was released February 23, 2018 and public comments are due by April 9, 2018 to Robert Garcia, Senior Planner with the City of Orange.
