There is news of a proposed closure of Chatham Docks, which puts over 800 full time jobs at risk.

 The use of the river to transport materials means countless heavy goods vehicles are kept off the road. 

The docks current annual turnover is £150 million, despite rumors that state the docks are 'financially unstable'. 

 Our council, Medway Council, have the power to stop this closure. By doing so they would protect many local jobs and businesses and the uncertainty is causing a lack of interest in the docks therefore stunting it's growth.
