I have lived here for 10 years. In that time I have witnessed many accidents at the junction with North Dane Way and Lordswood Lane. Our house backs onto the junction, so on hearing a bang, we look out the window and see what's happened, calling 999 where necessary. Sometimes they are minor accidents but too often they are serious. This evening 23.05.2016 was another serious accident between a motorbike and car. The bike hit the car, from what we can see and the car or bike exploded into flames within seconds. Now they are not always this dramatic, however I strongly feel that the reason behind these accidents are due to the speed change at the junction. Coming down from the top of North Dane way it is 60mph, however just yards before you reach the junction with Lordswood Lane it drops to 40mph. Out of experience many drivers do not adjust their speed at this point. (I'm not saying this was the reason in the recent case). I strongly believe we need a roundabout installed here to slow traffic, and the whole road 40mph to make the junction safer, just like the junction further down North Dane Way with Princes Avenue. We do not want to wait until there has been fatalities (as I have been advised by the council before). We have seen this too much now and something needs to be done.
