90% of Nightingales have gone! Don't let the developers build on their last stronghold.
The Issue
I am a sheep farmer in Sussex and doing my utmost to help out wildlife. I don't use herbicide and the butterflies that flock to the nettles are a joy to see. Instead I top the nettles in mid Sep. I feed top quality bird feed all year round, purchased from a wonderful family run company in Lincolnshire, Vinehouse Farm. Since feeding I have seen a big increase in starling and song thrush numbers.
But many of our best known and well loved species are hurtling towards extinction. Hedgehogs, water voles, starlings, sparrows, toads, butterflies have all declined massively. For some species it is too late. For others it is a success, thanks to the passion of wildlife trusts and individuals. PLEASE don't let Medway Council build yet more houses on the last stronghold for the beautiful nightingale. The nightingales can't just up and move, there is nowhere else for them to go. Go to the RSPB website for a full description and to sign the RSPB petition also.
Please help me save this bird and thank you so much for reading this.
