Environmentally friendly mothers who would like to recycle their breast pumps cannot do so. There are no programs out there that make it easy for moms to dispose of their pumps. Many pumps cannot be donated or given to others due to sanitary reasons. Medela touts that they are an environmentally friendly company. They even have a program called Breast Feeding for Earth. The program does not seem to support breast pump recycling. Please sign this petititon asking Medela to create a breast pump recycling program that is user friendly and intuitive. They need to do their part to keep pumps out of the landfill!

Update: Medela pumps are open systems and are for use by one person. The pumps can end up with bacteria. These single user pumps are not the same as the ones usedby hospitals and rental places.
