Meatless Moo-ndays: A Pledge for your Health and the Planet
The Issue
Dear People of Earth,
If you have been following the climate crisis over the years, you can see that we have done more bad than good. The health of our planet is in jeopardy and we need to spark change at the individual level instead of leaving it up to big corporations and government.
That is why I am trying to reach out to my friends, family, and community to spark change in their own lives' and take the pledge for Meatless Moo-ndays (get it? moo.. cow... yeah, I tried to be different).
Meatless Mondays has been around for quite sometime, since World War I! Therefore, there's a lot of information online about it that backs the science. So I am just going to highlight a few things instead of droning on and on.
Our planet is getting hot. Our carbon emissions are through the roof and there is no sustainable way to produce renewable energy that will keep up with the negative effects that we are creating. Therefore, it is imperative that we as INDIVDIUALS take that first step in reducing our carbon footprint and preserving the limited resources that we have.
If you participate in Meatless Moo-ndays, you have the potential of many health benefits, diversification of your food intake, lessening the amount of greenhouse gases that comes with livestock production, and many more!
I am a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Physical Sciences. My goal is to work in sustainability and renewable energy to help save our fragile planet. I am creating this 3-week campaign to see how much change I can make in the little time I have. Therefore, I am going to try my hardest to provide quality content, infographics, recipes, and updates on how much carbon emissions we have eliminated based upon how many pledges I have received.
So if you make the pledge today, I just ask for you to stick with it for 3 Mondays and to spread the word to your own friends and family, join a network of people on the official campaign Instagram, and let's ignite change.
