Over here at Gashland Baptist Church, we have replaced the real authentic drums with electronic ones. The reasoning was because they are easier to deal with when in all reality, they are a pain in the butt. The drummer is limited to the options they can use when making worship. We feel if we go to the real drums, we can eliminate the problems we have with sound and other things that the electronic ones bring. The sensitivity pops in and out and you can't adjust them to your wanting. (E.x: You can't make the 'snare drum' higher or lower) The drummer is crunched in and it hurts their arms because they are having to hit them harder due to the inconsistent sensitivity. Since the drums are now going through the house, it adds more sound to the older folks' ears, and which then creates the sound problem. There wasn't a sound problem with the drums before, because the drummer would use dynamics and they would know what is too loud. The drums also make a crunch like sound in the in-ears, which is difficult to work with. We feel if we get real drums, we can handle the overall sound more efficiently. The liking of the electronic drums is about the same liking as the real drums. We want to make worship the best we can, but it's a little difficult with the drummer not "getting along" with these drums and there is a constant sound problem. It's an uphill battle for them to play them to the best ability for worship. We care about our church and the guests that come in, and we want to make worship the best we can for God himself, and to help others worship him. We want to know what you think.
