People around the world throw away millions of pounds of plastic every day. Much of that plastic is recyclable, but because some people don’t have access to recycling, much of that plastic ends up in landfills or the ocean. McDonald’s is a huge corporation that produces a lot of food packaging and because McDonald’s doesn’t usually have recycling available in their restaurants, thousands and thousands of pounds of recyclable paper and plastic end up in landfills. This is a shame because that trash that is thrown away, is not only the throwing away of valuable recources that are worth a lot of money, but also because McDonald’s makes some of their packing from recycled content. With recycling bins not available in most restaurants, it ends the cycle of recycling for those valuable resources. McDonald’s needs to clean up their act and actually show that they care about sustainability and the future of the planet!
