I am very happy to say that last night I heard back from the Suarez campaign and they have signed the broadband pledge. I should note that I met with both Chanan and his opponent Lisa Anderson a few months ago and representatives from the Suarez campaign recently and all of the meetings were very productive. I am hoping that Lisa signs soon too. I know that she supports the idea as well. Since it's been a few weeks, I'll paste the pledge below as a reminder of its content.

I still have yet to hear from both mayoral candidates. Seth met with me most recently and "plans to sign" but I can't say he has until he officially does. Sadly, April seems to be back to ignoring the issue and hasn't responded in weeks. Seth has asked for a 3rd, more in-depth meeting. I have, of course, offered to meet with all of them again.

Broadband Pledge:

I _____________ recognize that broadband access is a necessity in the modern age and that fiber-optics are necessary to support public broadband access. A public fiber-optic network will help our community address social, economic, and environmental concerns, including the Digital Divide, and should be considered critical infrastructure now and in the future. I pledge to support and advocate for city and county policies including a Dig Once Policy, and the installation of comprehensive public fiber-optic infrastructure necessary for the greatest benefit to all of our citizens. I recognize that some providers have fallen short in providing real value to our citizens and are unlikely to ever do so, leaving us with the responsibility to do so as a community. These public fiber-optic resources should only be made available to companies who support public broadband access and are Net-Neutral.
