Mark Gardner (COB Policy Analyst that presented on Public Fiber back in November) wrote to me today with the following update from Ted Carlson (aka Public Works). Both updates are potentially good, but the devil will be in the details. They can still hobble it by setting thresholds too high, allowing subjective exclusion of sites for conduit installation, etc. I am still confused as to why we're re-inventing the wheel instead of just using a modified version of the Mount Vernon documents, but in general, at least they're actually talking about it. So that's good. Here is the e-mail. FYI, update below from Ted on dig once schedule: "-Mark We have selected our contractor and should have the inventory done sometime next year. We are planning on coming back with the Dig Once Policy in July/August time-frame." From Ted Carlson
