I'm glad to say that the meeting with the COB went very well. They seemed honestly interested. The meeting, originally set for 1/2 hour, went on for over an hour instead. I was able to bring another expert from Bellingham in too, so the COB was able to get good information from multiple vantage points. We talked about everything from infrastructure, access for everyone, underserved areas, policies for new construction, new business opportunities, trying to work with the power company when running cable and placing conduit, and much more. We also talked about the non-monetary advantages of having a network like this including choice, access to education, and building confidence in government. They have committed to doing an honest, and proper investigation, and will take it to the council. In the meantime, we need to keep getting signatures to backup our case and I'll try to identify some logical, underserved areas, to start with. Think of this as the equivalent making it safely to the first camp site on the Pacific Crest Trail :). Out of 2,650 miles (about 4,265 km) we still have about 2,600 miles (about 4,184 km) to go, but I think we can say that we're on our way.
