Stop the Indiscriminate Trapping and Poisoning of Backyard Wildlife

Stop the Indiscriminate Trapping and Poisoning of Backyard Wildlife
The Issue
In the City of Brampton, it is technically legal to indiscriminately trap and kill backyard wildlife. Whether it is raccoons, squirrels, opossums, or perhaps even the neighbour's cat, it's not against the by-laws, not considered animal cruelty, and it is also permitted by the Ministry of Natural Resources. In this day and age - UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
Understandably, if wildlife is damaging your house or other buildings on your property, you should call in wildlife removal professionals to have them humanely removed. However, when residents take it upon themselves to trap and poison these larger types of wildlife in their gardens because they are eating their plants/vegetables, this leads to unnecessary cruelty and death, and is simply not the proper means of dealing with them. Instead, deterrent education and/or relocation methods are preferred.
I'm reaching out to you to join me in changing both the Provincial laws and Brampton By-laws to forbid the trapping and killing of backyard wildlife in this manor.
How can you make a difference? You will help to preserve our backyard wildlife and protect our pets by eliminating the unnecessary capture, suffering, and death of these animals. You will also help to control the potential access to both poisonous substances and traps by children, as well as the psychological effects of children having to witness this type of behaviour.
Let's enjoy the summer and our backyard visitors instead of listening to their screams, smelling their decomposing bodies, and exposing our children to this type of behaviour.
Don't let Brampton fall behind other cities in the province, who already have changed their by-laws to outlaw this type of senseless behaviour.
Thank you so much!
