Say No to Song Sparrow Drive Connection

Say No to Song Sparrow Drive Connection

The Issue

The Town of Wake Forest is planning to open a connection between 3516 and 3520 Song Sparrow Drive that has never been open.  Residents in the immediate surrounding developments, since the 90’s, have utilized alternative routes to exit onto Forestville, Burlington Mills or Ligon Mill roads.

In 2007, the Town of Wake Forest was looking to connect Whippoorwill & Dansforth neighborhoods for resident safety issues in regards to fire and EMS services that were served solely by Fire Station #2 on Ligon Mill Road, http://www.wakeforestnc.gov/data/sites/1/media/community%20plan/desired%20and%20unwanted%20future%20wake%20forest.pdf  However, this has been mitigated with the opening of the Fire Station #3 on Forestville road that opened in 2009.

According to the Town of Wake Forest Unified Development Ordinance https://www.wakeforestnc.gov/Data/Sites/1/media/Residents/Planning/development%20services/currentudo.pdf the classification of the roadway for the potential connection does not meet the standards for a large residential roadway.  The connection is not and has never been a primary roadway between Whippoorwill & Dansforth.

If you are a resident that is affected by the opening of Song Sparrow Drive, or support the voice of the residents who do not want the connection completed, please sign this petition.  We are asking that the Town of Wake Forest cancel their plans for the connection of Song Sparrow Drive.
