Adopt a City Basic Homestead Exemption to lower Union City, GA residential property taxes.

Adopt a City Basic Homestead Exemption to lower Union City, GA residential property taxes.
The Issue
Union City residents are paying one of the highest millage rates for city property taxes, and taxes are assessed without the benefit of a City Basic Homestead Exemption like many neighboring cities. Currently, the millage rate for Union City is 14.95 mills while the millage rate for our newest neighboring city, the City of South Fulton, is only 11.59 mills and they offer a $30,000 City Basic Homestead Exemption. This means Union City residents are experiencing some of the highest property tax rates amongst our neighboring Fulton County cities. The absence of a City Basic Homestead Exemption is creating a financial hardship for many city residents who cannot afford to pay their property taxes. Adopting a City Basic Homestead Exemption will lower property taxes for eligible residents and diminish their financial burden. Sign our petition today and tell Mayor and Council we demand a City Basic Homestead Exemption!
