As Maui slowly reopens to visitors, let's take this opportunity to make a change.  During this quarantine our beaches have been blissfully empty of the large quantities of lounge chairs that beachfront hotels position in front of their properties.  Keep in mind these are public beaches.  Each day the hotels claim a large portion of the beaches either officially or unofficially for their lounge chair use.  By law the chairs are not supposed to be set up unless there's a guest using it, but we see this is often violated, with no one to enforce.  Non-guests are often left with minimal areas to sit on the beach and have to maneuver around the chairs.  Even when not in use the chairs take up much room stored on areas of the public beach that otherwise can be utilized by people.  Let's ban these hotel lounge chairs and chair services altogether, forever.  Hotel guests can bring a towel and or set up their own chair just as non-guests do.  Let Mayor Victorino know we want our beaches open to all, and open in an equal manner.  Hotels have been taking advantage of this for far too long.  This is our chance to curate HOW we want Maui to be visited when we reopen the island.
