The Issue

Vancouver Rents are as high as it can get. But, can you imagine paying even higher rents in the coming months because we are finally almost at the end of the Pandemic!

Its a known fact that Vancouver has one of the highest cost of living in Canada. Here the average person spends anywhere near 30% to 70% of their monthly income on rent. Vancouver is the city where the rich become richer by exploiting the pockets of the ones who have no where else to go. This is a pressing issue that is staring at our faces each day and yet remains unanswered by our Government . Lets demand change. Lets raise our voices and come together to curb this problem . Lets fight for our right to Shelter.

This petition is to urge the government to cap rents. We demand the following:

1. Rent should be capped on a square foot basis (carpet area).

2. Rent should be tax deductible for anyone in the lowest tax bracket, senior citizens, people with disability and the indigenous peoples of Canada. Rent should be partially tax deductible for higher tax bracket based on their income, assets, Inheritance and other investments.

3. All rental unit must follow BC building code specifications for habitable spaces for charging cap value for the rental space.

Lets fight for our right to Shelter! Please sign and share this petition for affordable living spaces that doesn't burn your pockets. Lets make our city livable!
