REMOVE CONFEDERATE SYMBOLS IN HUNTSVILLE, AL

REMOVE CONFEDERATE SYMBOLS IN HUNTSVILLE, AL
The Issue
In the wake of current events, it has been highlighted that there still stands a symbol of racism and hate in downtown Huntsville. One small step to affecting positive change would be to remove the statue and any other confederate symbols. The principles laid out in the Confederate Constitution of 1861 clearly state the Confederate states wanted disunion from the US and established slavery based on race. The Confederacy was openly racist, and held values that are not deemed acceptable. Most of all, the Confederacy lost the war. Having statues and symbols erected that represent hateful ideologies ruins the moral fabric of our community. We are calling for the removal of all Confederate symbols in Huntsville immediately. We will not rest. Which side of history will Huntsville stand on?
