Dear residents of the city of White Plains, NY:

We are lucky enough to live in a city that already bans the usage of gas-powered leaf blowers (GPLB) for many months of the year, but for the sake of our personal health and the health of our neighborhood ecosystems, we must go further and ban these machines altogether.  GPLB are used by many landscaping crews and homeowners for the purpose of a "clean" landscape and hardscape, BUT their hazards, such as noise pollution and air pollution, far outweigh their perceived benefits. 

The workers and homeowners using GPLB are exposed, up close, to horrendous amounts of fumes and hearing-damaging decibel levels.  Wildlife either flee areas where GPLB are being used, or smaller critters are literally blown away and potentially destroyed. The dust and particulates that are disturbed and distributed throughout the air by these machines are bad for us all but are particularly unhealthy for children, the elderly, ill people and animals.

We must ban GPLB for the benefit of our hearing, lungs, pollinators, and well-being - but also for the long term health of Earth.
