City To Plow All Streets of Billings, Mt.

The Issue

The Residents of the City of Billings represented by the undersigned are hereby holding the City Council of Billings accountable for not passing a budget to allow the residential streets of Billings, Montana, to be plowed by the public street dept, or private contractors. Many Residents and Businesses are being affected by the negligence of the city council. Poor snow plowing services in Billings, Montana, in the year of 2016 caused school buses, public buses, and emergency services to get not only stuck, but danger other drivers and pedestrians on the roadways.  The expectations from the City of Billings to have removal of snow from residential sidewalks, has been a known rule that is upheld by the city code enforcement. The concern is that the city has a budget for the removal of snow and during the summer months have been seen in the public sweeping and cleaning all residential streets.  So the real question is, if you can sweep and clean our streets all summer long, why cant you plow them and make them save for residents in the winter time? The city has also failed to salt and or sand streets before and after inclement weather. This is a public safety issue and a quality of life issue for residents of Billings and the citizens of Montana.

We the undersigned request that the Mayor form a volunteer commission to study these problems and present the findings and recommendations for improvement to the city council for review and the budget that is currently in place be changed to allow the plowing of residential streets at no extra cost to residents. The people want answers and accountability. We voted you into office to represent us, not take our money and misuse it.
