We have a dangerous situation in downtown Orillia

We need to make some changes downtown before someone is seriously hurt. Last year I saw a woman hit by someone riding a personal mobility scooter on the sidewalk. Today I was walking with my pet in his pet stroller. We were walking out of the Meridian bank and out of nowhere and going exceedingly fast a personal mobility scooter almost hit the stroller. This was not your every day scooter, it is what I would refer to as a hot rod scooter because it can go much faster than the standard personal mobility scooters and even has a speedometer on it. If I had not pulled the pet stroller back fast enough I would likely be telling you right now that someone killed the one thing that means everything to me. I understand the need for the standard scooters but not one that is capable of the speeds of this one and not at the expense of the lives of people, children and pets walking on the sidewalks. For starters I believe that it should be illegal to ride these on the sidewalk if they go considerably faster than the average person can walk. Secondly I think there should be a constant police presence downtown and anyone who is using these scooters dangerously (even the standard ones) should be charged. Please do something about this problem before someone (or some animal) is seriously hurt or killed.
