It’s now been nearly TWO YEARS since Oakland’s City Council unanimously voted to approve an urgently needed Encampment Management Policy (EMP), only to ignore it.

While the City fails to act, more than 800 people died while homeless in Alameda County over a three-year period spanning 2018 to 2020. Most from drug overdoses and related issues.

Our lawsuit is going in front of an Alameda County Superior Court  Judge, and we need YOUR help to succeed. We had our first court date on 5/19, where we amended our lawsuit to include property owners, business owners and unhoused neighbors for added strength.

The City will likely again claim that neighbors and businesses do not have the legal right to hold them accountable for their own policies. We fully expect a judge to rule in our favor, meaning a move to discovery in the mid-summer.

We will have a press conference in late June/ early July to discuss once we get the City's official response so keep a look out and sign up on our website for more information.
