MAKE PARKDALE STREETS SAFE

Dear friends and neighbours,
Over the last 10 years there have been 9 pedestrian and cyclists hit by cars on King Street between Dowling and Dufferin. These numbers include 3 deaths.
We cannot allow another tragedy to happen on our streets.
This stretch of King Street is the primary access point for two elementary schools, two daycares, a secondary school and two churches. The total enrollment of the schools and daycare centres is approximately 1500 students.
As pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and motorists who live in the neighborhood, or travel this section of King Street on a regular basis, we want to work together to prevent future deaths and collisions.
We therefore request that the City undertake a comprehensive review of all traffic types (motor vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist) between Dowling to the West, Dufferin to the east, Queen to the north and Springhurst to the south in order to determine what changes to items are appropriate.
Actions could include: restricted turning, signage, traffic calming and road network changes.
Actions need to be undertaken in the short, medium and long term to make our neighbourhood safer for all road and sidewalk users.
Make South Parkdale streets safe for all.
