Let's make GMO labelling on foods a requirement

The Issue

GMO foods are created when a normal living organism receives a change in DNA. This change happens because people often want to make it healthier in nutritional value, more appealing to the senses, or to resist chemicals like herbicides (used tom destroy vegetation). There is no denying that GMO foods do reap benefits like increased crop yield, a stronger appearance, a decreased amount of pesticides that must be used, and more resilience to acts of nature like drought. Because of all these benefits for a seemingly low cost, these foods are cheaper and promoted by food suppliers and governments.

But that is not how nature intended things to be. When you alter natural genes, you are changing the way a plant or animal is supposed to grow. That can hurt the food chain, including the animals we enjoy consuming as well.

But the real danger is that it will hurt our bodies. With GMO's, there is a risk of developing a strong resistance to common antibiotics (like medications you eat when you are sick), increased allergies, and diseases like cancer. By eating these foods, you may just be doing your body more harm than good.

The most common foods that are Genetically Modified are Corn, Soy, Canola, and sugar beet. You can expect them to be GM next time you're at the supermarket unless mentioned otherwise.

We need change fast. We deserve to know if the food we are eating is safe and doing our bodies real good. It's time for you to sign this petition, and let the world know how GMO's can affect our bodies. Without you, nothing can be done about this problem.

Thank you for your help.
