There is a crematorium that is looking to establish a location within Alsip.  This would require a change in zoning for an establishment such as this to make Alsip home.  After researching the topic, I have learned that crematoriums (cremations) generate sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals that are released into our environment. It is said that these could have severe effects on the surrounding environment and on human health.  There is little study on the effects if bodies have implants or other foreign bodies within them.  The health of our families, neighbors, and village are not something I want to take chances with.  

Alsip's Planning and Zoning Board voted UNANIMOUSLY (6-0) AGAINST allowing the crematorium to set up shop in Alsip, and passed this along to the Mayor and Village Board.  On Monday, February 2, 2021, the Mayor and Trustees will vote on changing zoning to allow this company to establish a location in Alsip.  Please sign this petition to let our elected officials know that you don't want them taking any chances on our health by allowing a zoning change.
