The Mayor & City Council of Melissa, Texas have elected to proceed with the land sale to Explorer Pipeline, which will bring an Oil & Gas terminal to our city. This terminal will be located just 1.1 miles from the North Creek Subdivision and  2.0 miles from the Melissa High School.

Initial plans include 6 storage tanks, with growth planned to be at 11 tanks, each 56 feet tall. This project will bring hundreds of fuel trucks through our city on a daily basis, increasing potential accidents on Hwy 121.

Despite health concerns, traffic concerns, and a potential impact to property values, the City has decided to proceed with this project.

In a later meeting, when asked by a council member, a representative from Explorer said HE DID NOT KNOW what protections or processes would be in place should a lighting strike occur at the facility.
