For years kids have had to "break into" Hoboken public sports fields, as these are locked at odd hours with no schedule displayed. On the other hand, many of these fields are reliably open on specific schedules for paid leagues (e.g. ZogSports), and the general public deserves the same dedication from our local government. We ask Mayor Ravi Bhalla to make every public sports field available to everyone, by creating a public online calendar that provides times when people can use them for free; for community play and pickup games. 

This is something that has been implemented by other cities (for example rfkfields.com/community-play) and we can get it done in Hoboken. We currently have the following fields and a multi-purpose outdoor rink that are public in Hoboken:

• Sinatra Park Field (4th St and Sinatra Drive)
• JFK High School Field (1000 Jefferson St)
• Mama Johnson Field (400 Jackson St)
• Multi-purpose Rink (Corner of 2nd St and Adams St)
• 1600 Park Avenue Field

No more random closures, no more kids hopping fences, no more denying public access.
