End Anti-Homeless Architecture in Toronto

The Issue

In the city of Toronto, the growing issue of homelessness is not one that can be ignored. As there are other issues such as housing shelters and even the rise of COVID-19, architectural designs in Toronto make these matters worse. These architectural designs such as metal studs, concrete barriers, spikes and excessive armrests on park benches are being incorporated into the city’s public spaces to reduce forms of loitering, skateboarders, landing birds, homeless persons sleeping. These ‘defensive designs’ target some of the most vulnerable members of society, especially the homeless who rely on public spaces the most in the city.  Please sign to help stop these designs from being incorporated in our cities in Canada and to advocate for homeless communities.
