Apr 4, 2016
Many Brownsville residents and people from around the nation have petitioned the City of Brownsville to move the Jefferson Davis Memorial to the Historic Brownsville Museum. We are not trying to erase history. We want to teach our children about history in an appropriate setting. The mayor and city commissioners have been slow to take action. They are worried that a Neo-Confederate group is going to take them to court. These groups have lost in court, so why is the Brownsville giving in to them? The Brownsville Historical Association has board members and employees who condone the actions of the Confederacy (all in the name of FREE SPEECH). One of them is even the founder of a local Neo-Confederate group. You decide: http://jtrevbtx.blogspot.com/2016/01/a-bias-set-in-stone.html We will be meeting at Washington Park (across the museum) around 11:30 am at the water-fountain. We'll then proceed to the museum sidewalk and post there from noon to 3:00 pm. Feel free to make your own signs. Some will be available before the protest.
