On Thursday, August 26th a fatal crashed happened on Broadway near Rockford East High School. A young man's life was cut short due to a reckless driver speeding on Broadway. This accident could have been possibly prevented had there been stoplights somewhere on Broadway near 24th and 28th Streets.

For years residents have begged the City of Rockford to look into street lights near East High School as it is dangerous area to travel before and after school. The answer that has been given is that the traffic light would disturb the flow of traffic on Broadway. Is the flow of traffic more important for the safety of students and residence of the neighborhood? 

Please sign this petition so students can get to and from school safer. Even if we can prevent just one tragedy with new stop lights, it is still worth it.
