Deploy the National Guards to the City of Oakland, California to help combat these murders

The Issue

The city of Oakland is under attack by murderers, robbers, and other criminals. The officials say that crime is dropping in Oakland and they have it under control but the numbers don't lie. According to FBI statistics Oakland, California in 2015 and 2014 was rated #2 out the 10 most dangerous cities over 200,000 people. Violent Crime rate: 1,977/100,000 people. Murder Rate: 22/100,000 people. Population Ratio1:632.

We as citizens in this our city is tired of this crime. It is no longer safe to live in Oakland. We are demanding that the major call in assistance on a long term basis and not just do a quick fix solution to try to keep the citizens quiet.

We need the major to find funding to increase the police department and hire more Homicide Detectives to the department. There are 8 homicide investigators assigned to the police department that average a caseload of ten homicides a year. Half of the homicides are not solved which rolls over in the following year increasing the caseload of each detective.

Mothers, families, fathers, and friends are tired of these senseless killing. Too many murderers are living among us. There are not enough detectives and personnel to combat these killings before they happen. Police Officers and detectives know who are responsible for the killings but because of limited resources and the lack of man power can not investigate these homicides and other crimes thoroughly.

City funded cameras need to be installed in the "hot spots" in Oakland. Because of the lack of witness coming forward to provide information about murders and other crimes most go unsolved. Provide federal subsidized money for individual residents so that they can place high resolution cameras on properties in these hot spots areas to help solve some of these robberies and murders. Why should the residents pay out of pocket expenses to help detour crime in a city where it seems like our elected officials don't care.

Where has the mayor been in the spike of homicides? Why has she remained quiet? Why can she provide numerous police power to the "Uptown District" which is really downtown Oakland when the protestors are protesting and sometimes vandalizing buildings, but on any other day especially on the weekends there isn't enough police power, crime scene technicians, 911 operators, etc. to respond to these crime scenes? Why is the city of Oakland's crime scene lab a JOKE?

Mayor Libby Schaaf we are demanding that you 1) Deploy the national guards for assistance to combat these murders. 2) Increase personnel at the Oakland Police Department in all of its departments. 3) Be more vocal and outline your plans about what you are doing to help detour this crime. 4) Provide federally funded grants or FREE MONEY to all residents in Oakland who want high resolution cameras installed on their properties to help solve crimes. 5) Provide street cameras at all hotspots in Oakland and make it available to solve these homicides when needed.
