The City of Hollywood is considering banning roller skaters, inline skaters (rollerbladers) and trikes from our Broadwalk (Trikes are bikes with one large wheel in front and 2 large wheels in back, generally used by a more 'mature' population).

For many, skating and triking are the few activities that bring them pure joy and happiness. Some people have fears or have knee or other stability or handicap issues that prevent them from riding a two-wheel bike. Because there aren't many terrains that are safe for these two activities, many residents moved to Hollywood and invested to retire here for the sole purpose of enjoying these healthy activities on our Broadwalk (activities that have been permitted here for decades).

Sidewalks and bike paths along A1A are either too narrow and too close to traffic or too irregular (with cracks, holes, rocks, sewage grates etc) making it extremely unsafe for inline skating, rollerskating, and triking. Changing the usage of the Broadwalk would force skaters and trikers to choose between their safety or giving up the activities that have kept them healthy, active, fit, and youthful for so many years.

Please show your support so that skaters and trike bike riders can continue to have a safe terrain to enjoy their healthy (and safe) lifestyle and passion.

Please tell our Commissioners that if two-wheeled bikers are allowed to use the Broadwalk, skaters and trikers should be allowed as well.
