Despite its reputation of racist profiling and brutality, Fontana, CA’s police department receives $60.9 million in funding, almost 60% of the city’s General Fund. Fontana PD officer Nicholas Shawn Stark was recently arrested for suspicion of raping a 16 year old girl. 

The Black Lives Matter movement and the murder of George Floyd has ignited the conversation of racial injustice in America. Fontana itself has had protests to demand racial equality and police reform. 

Mayor Warren has stated “This Council is not even looking at disbanding or defunding or transferring any funds” (Fontana Herald News)  in regards to Fontana PD. 

We demand Mayor Warren take action against racial inequality and the national crisis of police brutality. Her silence and lack of action to address the national movement is not reflective of the sentiments of Fontana citizens. We demand initiatives to be taken against racial injustice, and for those initiatives to be publicized to all citizens.
