Keep 4 Angels Southern Animal Rescue Operational

The Issue

We are a home based rescue located inside the city limits of Crossville, AL. The city is trying to shut us down on grounds of Zoning Ordinance Violation. Our property is zoned R-1 Low Density Residential. Our city ordinance states in Section 4-3, and we quote, “The intent of the R-1 District is to provide areas for low density detached dwellings and non-residential uses that serve the residents of the district.” We do serve the residents of the district every day. We provide the residents of our city and the surrounding areas with an alternative to taking their beloved companions to the kill shelter located in Fort Payne when they find they must rehome them. We provide a safe and nurturing place for these animals to go while they look for their forever homes. We provide full vetting before they are adopted including spay and neuter surgeries to help prevent the overpopulation of unwanted puppies and kittens. Age and health do not matter. If the animal is in need we will do everything in our power to help them. We take in stray animals and hold them for 14 days to allow owners to find them before we begin vetting. If an owner comes forward at any time after the 14 days we will still reunite them with their companions. We are a NO KILL RESCUE. This means that unless deemed medically necessary by a veterinary professional, we vow not to put an animal to sleep for any reason. We are not funded by the government but through donations and personal investment. We actually help alleviate some of the burden on the tax funded county shelter. We operate completely transparently and will gladly provide any pet’s records. Please, we need your support to show that the residents of our great city do support a local rescue. All we ask for is your signature below to show that you approve of having a local rescue that you can turn to if you ever need help.
