Dear friends, Let's start with a superb recent poem in honour of the action taking place http://youtu.be/363xsVtTG_0 So much has happened in these last few days here on the Blue Finger. The tree-top protest at Stapleton Woodland organised by Rising Up is still going strong despite the eviction order being granted last friday. The Mayor had a press-free visit to the camp where there was a good discussion but still he maintains that the roadbuilding will go ahead and the design of the scheme cannot be changed. This is due to real pressures of time and money from government, political partners and contractors than the right or wrong of chopping down a wood to build a road. So the protest will continue until eviction or a miracle brings the roadbuilding there to an end. See www.risingup.org @risingupland The media have continued to give it some very well balanced and supportive coverage. Catalysed by the camp, we have been having some very good discussions with the Mayor of Bristol about moving forward on issues such as putting a covenant on the remaining Blue Finger land, moving the Bristol Good Food Plan from proposals into policies and minimising the damage MetroBus will do city wide. This opens up real possibilities to progress the brilliant work already being done by the members of the Bristol Food Policy Council, the Blue Finger Alliance and others. Thanks both to the courageous and inspiring members of Rising Up and to the Mayor for coming together this week. And I'll finish with a great article by Elizabeth Winkler which refers to this wider destruction and also pictures of the camp. https://realfoodlover.wordpress.com/ Thanks Maddy
