Stop the slaughter of innocent animals specifically geese.

Stop the slaughter of innocent animals specifically geese.
The Issue
Mayor Norman Rosenblum has signed a $10,000 a year deal with the FDA for the murder of innocent geese in order to control the population. It is inhumane what is being done to these geese and there are alternative ways to handle this situation. I found an article on http://www.birdbgone.com/resource-center/pest-bird-profiles/canada-goose.html?gclid=CMzW7-yzy7UCFZCf4AodU3wA6A
Description:
Canada Geese are recognized by the “V” formation they create as they migrate in the spring and fall over North America. Up close, they can be identified by their long black necks, a white “chin strap”, and brownish grey feathers. The birds are large, weighing up to 24lbs, and let out a very distinguishable “honking” noise.
Habitat
Canada Geese are found on large inland bodies of water such as lakes, reservoirs and large ponds; as well as on seashores and rivers. Canada Geese are grazers so they are often found in grassland areas.
Diet
Seeds, grasses and aquatic plants make up the main portion of their diet.
How to Deter Canada Geese
Many national wildlife organizations suggest taking an “integrated” approach when trying to deter geese from a property. Trying to resolve the goose problem from a few different angles is usually the most successful. In the end altering the goose's behavior will be more effective than lethal or harmful means. Identifying the aspects of your property that are attracting geese and then removing or changing the attractions is an ideal way of deterring Canada Geese.
Habitat modification
♦ Clear away reeds or plants – Canada Geese like to have a secure, protected area for nesting. Removing tall reeds or vegetation can help decrease a Goose infestation.
♦ Increasing the angle of an embankment near water can help discourage geese from entering your property.
Remove any food source
♦ Geese are grazers and generally attracted to properties near water that provide an ample food source - grass. Treating lawn areas with Migrate Goose Repellent will send Geese looking for a new food source.
Scare Tactics
♦ Sound deterrents such as the Goose-B-Gone Super Sonic play recorded goose distress calls in conjunction with predator calls to scare birds away from large open spaces.
♦ The Scarecrow motion activated sprinkler sprays out water every time motion is sensed and can be used to keep geese away from lawns, docks, pools and other areas.
Humane Removal / Professional Installer
♦ If you don’t have the time, resources or expertise to solve your bird problem, there are wildlife and pest control companies that offer bird control as a service.
♦ These professionals can install bird control products and offer other services such as clean-up and humane trap and removal.
Call Bird-B-Gone, Inc. at 1-800-392-6915 for a qualified installer in your area.
It took me 2 seconds to google this information but because the Mayor was hissed at a child by geese as a child he is playing GOD and taking revenge on beautiful creatures. This is not ok. Who and what will they kill next to "control the population"?
