Justice for Marqueese Alston

On June 12, 2018, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department shot and killed 22-year-old Marqueese Alston in Southeast Washington, DC.  For two years, Mr. Alston’s mother Kenithia has been seeking the truth about what happened to her son. She has demanded to see the body worn camera footage from the officers on the scene, only to have her FOIA request denied. She appealed, and is still awaiting a copy of the body worn footage two years later. It is far past time for the DC government to do right by Kenithia and give her closure about her son’s murder. Demand transparency and justice for Marqueese. It is time for “Black Lives Matter” to be more than just some words on the pavement for DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. It is time to hold the Metropolitan Police Department accountable. It is time for transparency. Marqueese Alston’s life mattered. Release the body worn camera footage now!
