#FreeChubs and INVESTIGATE ACAS!
The Issue
Chubbs is home & safe now; however, we cannot allow the animal shelter to continue their behavior, and think it’s okay to do this to people. The shelter needs looked into, especially how it’s being ran now ...
Imagine; you just woke up & hear a knock to your door. You open the door, and see animal control standing on your porch- zero paper work in hand.
They say : “We’re here for your dog “ again, zero paperwork in hand to prove the allegations that first were “your abusing and fighting your dogs” that changed to “you tie him outside “
Well. On 7/15/19 that was the reality for Julia and Cody Lucas. Their handicapped elderly dog Chubbs was taken from their home, without his medical products, no doubt to be used as a poster child for donations yet again.
Here’s is Cody’s story in his own words:
!!!!!!*"**%HERE IS THE WHOLE STORY %**"*!!!!!! Its about a 15 minute read! Please share!!!
When we came to work that morning I had no clue I was I'm love with chubbs, but when my wife Julia told me " something is wrong with Mr Chubb's " it hit me. I hadn't even got the food cart threw the front door I think before we found him slumpt half on (what was left of a) dog bed with his back legs under it. He had a slipped disk injury that cause his back half to stop working right. I cries so hard I couldn't see or breath it physically hurt!!! I told patty I couldn't do this job Any more and wanted to quit because I felt like it was my dog. Like my dog was dying not a shelter dog. I couldn't stay if this was how losing a dog (which happens all the time at the shelter) here feel I can't do it. But some how patty talked me out of my crying and said " the vet suggested we put him down, he's old and probably won't ever walk again." She said " if you will take full responsibility and care of him we won't have him euthanized." I said yes i take care of him, she threw her hands up and said "okay hes yours?" so Id stay at the shelter almost every night I could some times I'd sleep on the floor beside his cage, just wake up every 2 hrs and makes sure he hasn't pooped or peed on himself. I didn't want him sleeping in it for hours. Cause NORMALLY everyone leave at 4pm and no one come in till 8 am. THATS A LONG TIME!. plus he had have his bladder manually expressed!! What that means is, I had to help him walk outside and push on his bladder to trick his brain into making him pee and poop! (HAHA) needless to say I took Chubb's home after me and my wife got a house together. I put in play tight schedule and routine for him and all my dogs for that matter. We exercised him and trained certain movements and muscles like palm pushes, assisted crouching, yoga ball exercises designed for dogs, we went threw two pools for him. But it all paid off he went from no movement to being able to walk on his own no wheelchair, at all in less than 6 or 7 months. What's really funny is that his progress took off even more when my wife became pregnant with our daughter, he would not leave her side so he pushed himself harder to keep up with her. The biggest achievement was when she waddled up the 14 steps inside the house to the bathroom, chubbs walked his happy self up them steps to check on her. All goes well for awhile and the usual vet trip here and there, he's old and has had long rough life, had worms and other minor stuff. We got that all fixed he was on a few supplements and special high protein diet but other than that when he was taken on 7-15-2019! Me and miss patty have fought over Chubb's well being for quite sometime. Anyone who knows her for real knows patty she uses people toll they aren't useful to her anymore i hate to say it. I'm sure if you've seen other posts you know what's going on now, the shelter is holding him hostage and won't even give me a price or show me any paperwork, they took him without showing me any paper work I didn't sign anything they just threatened me with the cop and being arrested. I didn't know what the law was and didn't want to make them think i wasa bad person and give them a fight! Plus I know James and Pete Herrell personally I know their jobs are tough and honestly their jobs were probably at stake if the didn't get Chubb's back to the shelter. We just need our baby chubbs back I don't want him being pawned off and dressed up for events when needed!!! They took him cause they had heard all my dogs were fighting dogs and all the dogs were starving and Chubb's was being beat!!! Showed me NO PAPER WORK!!! They know me and they know I don't "fight dogs" or that my animals were starving. I biggest dog weighs a solid 105 all day!?? Chubb's was pushing 65 to 70 lbs but he has muscle loss and he's oldest dog I'm house. Either way my dogs were not being beat or starved!!! Its an inside job I feel it!!!!
Shortly after taking Chubbs from Cody and Julia the shelter was looking for a doggy wheelchair for him - again, so they could use him for a poster child. They had asked Cody last year to send them pictures of Chubbs & then used pictures of him for their Christmas donations event!
This is NOT the only time our “shelter” has done someone wrong. Read the review s on the shelters page... they’ve taken / found dogs and when the owners come looking to get their pets back- they don’t get them, find out they’ve already been adopted out or they have to go through hell to get them back! Not to mention, the recent string of deaths and illnesses that have hit the shelter and been swept under the rug, never mind the fact that they ask for donations ALL the time and they don’t even fix what the money was supposed to be for! When the tax payers ask, we get threatened and blocked on social media!
The ACAS need investigated and PUT UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT and Chubbs NEEDS TO BE HOME!
Please, sign and share using the hashtag #FreeChubbs or #JusticeForChubbs
urge our city representatives to do SOMETHING to get Chubby home and do SOMETHING about our shelters conduct over the years!
