As of August of 2016, five states, the District of Columbia, and the cities of Cincinnati and Miami have banned the archaic and completely discredited practice of Gay Conversion Therapy. As a stance of solidarity to support the threatened LGBTQ+ community, as New Orleans has one of the largest in the United States, the City of New Orleans ought to join the aforementioned names in banning this incredibly harmful process. With the current political regime in power, ordinances like this prove to minority communities that their elected officials truly care about their safety, wellbeing, and ability to thrive in their community at large.
