Winston Churchill was an unapologetic racist and does not deserve to have a statue erected in our city. The name and likeness of Churchill should not be glorified, it should bring shame.

Viola Desmond was a Halifax native and her plight is taught to inspire African-Nova Scotians, as well as allies to their battle against discrimination. She was a strong business woman who stood up for what she believed. If anyone deserves a statue, it is her, as her story is well beloved.
