The City of Iqaluit has decided to NOT open the skatepark located at the Curling Rink this summer citing attendance drop in the last years.

The skatepark is a well loved venue and allows the kids to enjoy hours of physical activity at low cost. It is a serious added value in the City. Cutting recreation programs has a direct impact on youths mental and physical health. They need more opportunities to enjoy healthy activities, not less.

We believe the City should look at ways to make the skatepark more profitable and less costly instead of simply closing it down.
