San Pedro Bridge Construction, Still Not in Function!

The Issue

DPWH begins the implementation of the widening of San Pedro Bridge located between the Barangay of San Antonio and San Vicente which has a purpose to improve the public transportation system which will relieve the area from significant amount of traffic.

This work is being coordinated with the Local Government Unit of San Pedro and other concerned agencies, especially on the traffic management committee due to changes in traffic scheme.

After 2 years of construction, the said bridge was still not in function. Those motorists who were supposed to pass the said bridge for easier way would have to pass through the alternate route which is the one in front of the Suki Market. We all know that this road experiences heavy traffic ever since and it can't be improved because of the heavy amount of vendors that is already utilizing the part of the road. Thus, it said that the alternate route which is the bridge would serve as a way for faster transport but because of this prolonging construction, motorists would not be hassle free in going to places like Pacita or Muntinlupa.

The equipment that is being used for the construction such as the metal rods that are ready to be used as foundation for the bridge have been left there untouched for a while. The foundation has been used by homeless as their house, and the metals is being used are already rusting because of the past few years of leaving them from start of the bridge construction. Even though they close the road at 9pm for its allocated time for construction, the road is still not finished.

Our team proposes this petition so that the local government unit and DPWH would resolve this problem. They should have proper timeline for the construction and not prolong it. We therefore suggest that they should speed up the construction so that it would be finished by the end of the quarter.
