Let Chicago follow the example set forth in Richmond and Boston and remove the statue of Christopher Columbus that currently stands in Grant Park near the Museum Campus. Columbus is a symbol of white privilege and oppression that has somehow not only been honored with statues and memorials across the country, but has been celebrated annually. To say removal of idols to this man is overdue is a gross understatement. 

Please sign this petition to urge Mayor Lori Lightfoot to remove the statue from Grant Park. While I like the approach taken in Boston (decapitation of the statue is certainly appealing), I figured we might as well try a more formal approach to civic engagement.
