Save Starving Cats in Hawaii

Save Starving Cats in Hawaii
The Issue
Due to the surge of coronavirus cases in Honolulu, Mayor Kirk Caldwell recently ordered the closure of all state parks. A few days ago, a caretaker asked for permission to enter a public park to feed a cat colony. However, a State Parks administrator refused his request. UNDER THE DIRECTIVE OF MAYOR CALDWELL, THERE IS A FEEDING BAN THAT PROHIBITS CARETAKERS FROM ENTERING THE PARKS TO FEED THEIR CATS. Meanwhile, other visitors are allowed to go swimming in the parks, surf, go fishing, and enjoy other recreational activities as long as they don’t ‘linger’. Obviously Mayor Caldwell doesn’t deem the act of feeding starving cats as essential and couldn’t be bothered with doing what is right.
We need you now more than ever. Please allow the colony caretakers to continue their work. They don't get paid to do any of this. It is with compassion that they come every day to feed these animals and look after them for any signs of illness and injury. Medical care is given to those in need. The cats have been neutered and spayed. Newcomer cats are trapped, neutered and returned (TNR). Without being allowed to have access to these cats, not only will they all starve and face a slow painful death, but they will reproduce quickly without TNR. Their kittens will end up starving too.
Please call and email Mayor Caldwell and urge him to allow the colony caretakers to have access to the parks to perform this essential service of daily feeding and TNR. It is an act of cruelty to prohibit it. TELL HIM THAT STARVING CATS IS INEXCUSABLE AND NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO CONTROL A PANDEMIC. Calling works best. The email online form is quick and easy and takes 1-2 minutes to complete. Please help us save these cats. Thank you for your support!
