Summer 2020: Close Elm St to Vehicle traffic. Open to Pedestrians & Hospitality.
Why this petition matters
Closing Elm St. to vehicle traffic for the summer season has long been discussed, and in the past has proven beneficial to the experience of downtown visitors.
As we look ahead to an uncertain future in hospitality & dining in Manchester, we ask the board of Mayor & Alderman to consider closing Elm St. to vehicular traffic and opening the street to pedestrian traffic. Allowing restaurants to offer additional seating, additional spacing, and comfort to our guests allowing dining outside in accordance with potential social distancing guidelines. This change will also aid in social distancing within the high density pedestrian traffic of Elm St.
If you agree that this change may be beneficial, not only to the small business that are the life blood of our city, but also to those conscious of social distancing, please consider signing our petition. With your (local) address.
