Bensalem skatepark desperately needs to be rebuilt due to its consistent maintenance issues, lack of use, and safety concerns.  Built in the early 2000s with outdated design and construction techniques, this skatepark no longer remotely meets the needs of the local skateboarding community.  Currently, the skatepark is often locked up and vacant; a dead space and eyesore.  Because of this, skateboarders are more likely to take to the streets where injuries and property damage are likely to occur. 

Therefore, a modern, cast-in-place concrete skatepark must be built to ensure the underserved recreative community in Bensalem are adequately provided with a safe, fun, and dynamic space. The rebuilt skatepark in Bensalem will be popular, well-used, and attract park users from the broader region.  The benefits of skateboarding for youth cannot be excluded or understated.  From keeping teens out of trouble and being a positive source of discipline in learning tricks to being one of the best examples of staying fit and creative, skateboarding has the power to change lives of our future generations.  This skatepark will foster such positive growth in young peoples lives. 

By coming together to address this unused and unsafe skatepark, skateboarders, local residents, and municipal leaders can join as a coalition in the reconstruction of a modern, safe, and fun skatepark in Bensalem Township.
