Mayor Tory and City Council: 450 on floors. How many on sidewalks, in parks, ravines, under bridges?

While a massive city public relations campaign continues to promote the notion that it is housing we must focus on (duh!) - faith leaders, front-line workers, homeless people AND members of the Toronto caring public insist that should not be done at the expense of proper shelter. On Tuesday December 12 at noon at the monthly Homeless Memorial at Church of the Holy Trinity, community members will come together to mourn at least six more people who have lost their lives to homelessness. This without any serious attempt to open new shelters with beds, staffing and resources. The latest count shows 450 people sleeping on floors in faith centres and overnight drop-ins and you can see for yourself how many are still outside.
